Abstract

Given the important role of university sports in promoting students’ psychological and social well-being, the present study aimed to examine the effect of participation in the Cultural-Sports Olympiad on the social quality of life of female student-teachers at Farhangian University nationwide. The present study is descriptive and employs a causal-comparative research design. The statistical population consisted of all female student-teachers in Isfahan Province during the 2022–2023 academic year. A sample of 317 students was selected using cluster random sampling and categorized into two groups: participants and non-participants in the Cultural-Sports Olympiad. Data were collected using the Social Capital Questionnaire (Nahapiet & Ghoshal, 1998), Social Joy Questionnaire (Talebzadeh Shoushtari, 2021), and Social Well-being Questionnaire (Keyes, 1998). Data analysis was performed using independent t-tests and Levene’s test for variance homogeneity in SPSS version 23. The findings indicated a significant difference between the two groups in terms of social capital, social joy, and social well-being (p < 0.05), with Olympiad participants scoring higher on these variables. These results suggest that participation in cultural-sports events can play a significant role in enhancing the social quality of life of student-teachers.
