To do this study, among all the children of 11-12 years of age in Al-Mufaqiya who were enrolled in football classes. 30 learners were selected by the accessible method and randomly divided into two groups of education using traditional method and small side games. At first, the pre-test was taken with the basic football skills test and the basic psychological needs questionnaire, and then the participants practiced football skills on the 7x7 field for 16 weeks and 4 one-hour sessions every week. Finally, the post-test was evaluated according to the pre-test. The results were analyzed by descriptive method and 2x2 ANOVA analysis in SPSS-24. The results showed that the test of between-subject effects to compare psychological needs and basic football skills in people of traditional education groups and small field games, for all skills, is significant at the alpha level of 0.05 (p<0.05). based on research findings, small field games perform significantly better than traditional training in developing basic soccer skills and satisfying psychological needs in 11 and 12-year-old children. In this regard, it can be said that small field games by placing the player in a small environment makes the player have more opportunities to perform, which leads to the improvement of psychological needs and basic football skills in team sports such as football.
