The decline in physical activity and sedentary lifestyle in children, driven by modern lifestyle changes, has been recognized as one of the primary factors contributing to increased physical problems and a decline in motor skills. This study aimed to compare the effects of challenging and non-challenging ball games on physical activity levels and enjoyment of physical activity in 9-11-year-old girls. In this study, 30 female students from schools in Kermanshah were randomly assigned to two groups of 15 participants each. They participated in Heidelberg Ball School games with challenging and non-challenging designs for 8 weeks (3 sessions per week). Data collection tools included the Physical Activity Questionnaire (Zamani et al., 2019) and the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale (Morano et al., 2019), which were used to assess the level of physical activity and enjoyment derived from these activities in both groups. The results were analyzed using the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results indicated that the group participating in challenging games scored significantly higher in both physical activity levels and enjoyment compared to the non-challenging group (P<0.05). These results suggest that challenging games, by creating a dynamic and engaging environment, can be an effective strategy for increasing physical activity and providing a positive and enjoyable experience for children. Overall, the use of these games in the long term may contribute to promoting a healthier lifestyle in children and increase motivation to engage in physical activities.
