The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between environmental affordances for motor behavior with the level of physical activity and gross motor coordination in children aged 8 to 11 years. This study was a descriptive-correlational type. The statistical population included all 8 to 11-year-old students in Tehran, from whom 600 individuals were selected through cluster random sampling. The research instruments included a demographic questionnaire, the Affordances for Motor Behavior of Schoolchildren (AMBS) questionnaire, the Körperkoordinationstest für Kinder (KTK) for gross motor coordination, and the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children (PAQ-C). Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and linear regression in SPSS software version 21. The findings showed a significant positive relationship between the total score of environmental affordances and the total score of gross motor coordination (r=0.57), as well as with the level of physical activity (r=0.63) (P<0.05). Furthermore, the results of regression analysis indicated that environmental affordances could significantly predict 40% of the variance in gross motor coordination and 39% of the variance in children's physical activity (P<0.05). Based on the findings of this research, it seems that enriching children's living environments (home, school, and play areas) by providing appropriate facilities, equipment, and space can significantly contribute to improving their motor coordination and increasing their level of physical activity. Therefore, attention from parents, educators, and planners to the category of environmental affordances seems essential.
